Fong to meet Chia again for Pujut seat

MIRI: Confidant DAP candidate Fong Pau Teck who stood against BN-SUPP candidate Andy Chia in Pujut constituency in 2006 will stand there again during the coming poll.

Fong, who is well-known for adopting the Taiwanese style of campaigning by waving to passing-by vehicles at roundabouts in Miri to woo support, has been moving around in Pujut to meet voters and party supporters.

“This election, I have not planned my style of campaigning and I assure voters that I mean business for Pujut constituency,” Fong said when contacted yesterday.

According to Fong, he prefers Pujut constituency rather than Senadin or Piasau constituencies as the area is more familiar and voters there know him.

Fong will face BN-SUPP candidate Andy Chia again for the Pujut seat this coming election which is SUPP’s stronghold in northern Sarawak.

In the last state election, Andy Chia secured over 6,400 votes against Fong who secured over 5,100 votes.

Fong lost by over 1,400 votes to Chia.
